Straight Talk Theology Series
A "Franciscan Take" on Life
Fr. Bill Cieslak, OFM Cap

Straight Talk Theology

Sundays, 9:00 – 10:40 am

3rd Sunday of each month, October – May, (No session in March)

William Cieslak, OFM Cap

What difference does a Franciscan perspective make in my life?

Visitors to the Casa often experience something very attractive and compelling about what they experience at Sunday Eucharist. Likewise when we are traveling and attend Mass in other places we often feel that something is missing.

What is that “something”?

This series will help identify a Franciscan “Take” on life.

As always, if current events at or near the time of any presentation warrants it,

Fr. Bill may address another topic instead of what is planned.

Fee: No set fee. Donations gratefully accepted at each presentation.

OCTOBER 15: GOD

We all believe in God, but our attitudes about God can be quite different.

We will explore God from a Franciscan perspective.

NOVEMBER 19: SAVED BY GOD'S LOVE

We are mortal creatures, saved by God’s love and mercy. What does a

Franciscan believe about humankind, grace, sin, death-resurrection, and

God’s mercy and love?

DECEMBER 17: JESUS: HUMBLE GOD-HUMAN

For many of us our God is too small and our Jesus is too big. Focusing on the

HUMILITY of GOD we can see Jesus in a new light: not only as Savior, but also

as Revealer.

JANUARY 21: CREATION, SISTER-BROTHERHOOD, THIS-NESS & HIERARCHY

Perspective makes all the difference in how we view and treat relationships.

A Franciscan perspective has its own ramifications and consequences.

FEBRUARY 18: THE CROSS: SUFFERING AND SACRIFICE

Lent offers us the opportunity to decide whether suffering or sacrifice will

have the final say in our lives. We have no control over suffering: how shall

we welcome it?

APRIL 15: HUMILITY, SIMPLICITY, AND JOY

Easter attitudes and Christmas attitudes have a lot in common. A Franciscan

attitude is fixed on Jesus. He shows us how to live in this passing world and

where to place our values.

MAY 20: THE HOLY SPIRIT: GIFTED, CALLED, EMPOWERED

Generous response, love and mercy is the core of Franciscan evangelization.
